  • Super Bowl Sunday – the Perfect Fix for a Mid-Term Money Malfunction?

    Feb 1, 2018
The first week of February can get a little intense. All the money you earned during the holidays or your student loan installment #2 is disappearing – fast. You have become inventive with ramen noodles and stretching out meals. You are contemplating forgoing a bus pass this month and walking everywhere – it's the best form of exercise and an incredible way to explore this fine town, right?

  • Feeling warm & welcomed at Centennial, Morningside!

    Jan 15, 2018
The Centennial College, Morningside campus was just what we needed after all of the cold weather. The school has beautiful, big windows, which made it feel bright and very welcoming. The sun was shining and made the days even better than they already were!

  • Are you as happy to get back to campus as we are?

    Jan 12, 2018
Our first campus visit to Centennial College’s, Ashtonbee campus after the holiday break was so great! Even though students we’re just getting settled back into school work mode, that didn’t diminish their interest in finding out how they could to get their hands on some free jelly belly’s and a chance to win a scholarship.

  • Lower the bar on this year's resolutions

    Jan 8, 2018
What? This the most inspirational time of year! Lower the bar? What about those life changing goals, the approximately two days of staggering perfection, the meticulously organized and sanitized workspace, a gleaming dish-free sink and that mindful, calm presence that freaks your roommates out (with a trace of self satisfaction tugging at that peaceful smile).

  • Hello friend….it’s been too long!

    Dec 12, 2017
The #kts2 team was so pleased to visit U of Guelph during the fall semester. It has been a few long years since we were on campus & we couldn’t have been happier to re-connect with the outstanding representatives at The Wellness Centre. A huge thank you to Emma Todd and Jean Thompson who booked us display space and welcomed us so warmly onto campus. We spent two great days here and spoke to loads of students about problem gambling prevention (although I think that the tin of free jelly belly’s we were giving away may have helped a little bit!) A big shout out to our student staff Holly, Sydney, Allie & Vicky for helping us interact with hundreds of students—you all were fantastic and managed your time super well with exams just around the corner. We wish each of you a great end to the semester & hope to see you again next year!

  • Prepping for Exams When You're Playing Catch-Up

    Dec 1, 2017
Feeling distinctly unprepared for exams this fall? The stress and anxiety that accompanies playing catch-up can be overwhelming. Ontario college students are currently going through an extreme example of this, as they try to make up for five weeks of class cancellations due to a work stoppage. Whether you are one of the affected college students or a first year post-secondary student who is new to this process, cramming is never fun.

  • In the heart of downtown Toronto at Ryerson!

    Nov 29, 2017
Downtown TO might be super busy with lots going on but that worked to our advantage when the #kts2 team arrived at the Ted Rogers School of Management for the first day of program delivery. There were so many students walking around, and thankfully they weren’t too busy to stop and take our quiz!

  • The times you crave isolation is usually often when you most need to connect

    Nov 27, 2017
So, you may recognize this advice: Stop going out so much! Hunker down! Get to work! Absolute pearls of wisdom for extroverted students compelled to socialize like a bee drawn to a flower. But what about introverts, who, depending upon the course of study, can account for almost 80% of the student population? (This number is about 30-50% in the general population, even lower for majors like Broadcast Journalism. Don't know your Myers-Briggs personality type? Check this test out).

  • The first sign of winter at Laurentian University

    Nov 9, 2017
Just when we thought we could squeeze in another day of Fall weather, we were welcomed onto the Laurentian University campus with some light flurries! Getting out of the cold and into the brand new (at least to us!) Atrium Welcome Centre, was amazing. The building that the #kts2 was set up in allowed us to chat with loads of LU students about problem gambling awareness! There were so many students stopping at the display, asking questions, filling out our 5-question quiz, and sharing tips for keeping warm! We were especially happy to share the space with the Graduate Studies Expo on our second day. We want to especially thank our Laurentian University host Lyne Rivet from the Health and Wellness Centre, for helping kts2 out this week. On very short notice, she moved her scheduled date to an earlier one so as to increase the chance that an Ontario college could take her later date, should the work stoppage end. We couldn’t be more appreciative of her efforts to assist us and her fellow colleagues at other colleges.

  • The smell of peppermint is in the air...

    Nov 8, 2017
As the fall colours turn, it seems so does the students choice from pumpkin spice lattes to gingerbread and peppermint (at least judging from the coffee smells at the kts2 display!)

  • Original, unusual, creative OCAD U

    Nov 7, 2017
What an artistic two days at OCAD University. It was an absolute pleasure to be in one of the most architecturally interesting buildings in downtown Toronto but also to speak with so many creative students. We want to thank our Campus Contact Jennifer Ko from the Health and Wellness Centre for giving kts2 the opportunity to engage with her students and have them complete our 5-question quiz on campus. We had a wonderful time and wish everyone a successful fall semester!
